Real conversations.
Clear controls.

This guide explains the parts of VOXGAB people use most: rooms, direct messages, profiles, media, privacy, moderation and chat commands.

Getting started

After signing in, the main chat screen gives you access to the current room, room discovery, people, direct messages, friends, saved activity and your profile/settings.

Live

The current room and its conversation.

Rooms

Browse or switch between public rooms.

People

Find users and open profiles or private conversations.

Direct messages

Open your private conversations and unread message list.

Unread direct messages are highlighted and can also play a sound when your sound setting allows it.

Rooms

Rooms are separate conversation spaces. The room card shows the room name, topic and current activity. Use Rooms to browse other spaces.

Room topics

Room topics describe the purpose of the current room. Moderators and higher roles can update a topic where permitted.

Room management

Creation, deletion and administrative changes are available only to roles with room-management permission. The Main room is protected from ordinary deletion.

Direct messages

Direct messages are visible only to the sender and recipient. Open them from Direct Messages, a profile, or a private-message action.

Unread messages

When a private message arrives, VOXGAB marks Direct Messages and can play the private-message sound when sound is enabled. Opening the conversation marks unread messages as seen.

Ignoring unwanted messages

Ignoring a user blocks their private-message attempts according to the platform rules. Repeated unwanted attempts may also be visible to the security system.

Private messages are private conversations, but platform rules still apply.

Profile & friends

Your profile contains your display identity, avatar and profile information. Use Edit Profile or Settings to update allowed information.

Avatars

VOXGAB validates avatar/image uploads before accepting them. Replacing an avatar replaces the previous stored avatar for that account.

Friends

Friend controls make it easier to find people you know and start conversations. Friendship does not bypass privacy, ignore or moderation rules.

Links & media

Where links are enabled, VOXGAB can turn supported links into clickable or embedded media. Images, video and supported social embeds use their own presentation in chat.

Protected uploaded media is served through VOXGAB access checks. Unauthorized users receive an access-denied response instead of the file.

Never upload executable files, scripts or content that violates room rules or platform terms.

Message formatting

VOXGAB supports the classic formatting tags used by the chat engine:

Bold

text

Italic

text

Underline

text

Emoticons

Use the emoticon picker where available.

Safety & privacy

VOXGAB uses access controls, flood protection, moderation tools and security telemetry to protect conversations and the platform.

Flood and spam protection

Sending messages too quickly, repeating content, excessive links or repeated unwanted private messages can trigger behavioral protection.

Reporting and moderation

Use Report / Help and moderation controls when a conversation needs staff attention. Actions depend on the acting user’s role.

Security scoring

Normal activity does not increase behavioral risk. The security engine targets genuine suspicious behavior while ordinary background activity is kept separate.

Roles and permissions

User

Standard platform access according to room and account settings.

VIP

May receive additional product features, while remaining subject to all platform and security rules.

Moderator

Can perform allowed moderation actions such as mute or kick.

Admin

Broader moderation and administration permissions. Security telemetry remains active.

Super Admin / Owner

Highest platform authority and protected control-plane access. Security telemetry remains visible, but the engine does not throttle the Owner.

Chat commands

Commands are typed directly into the chat input. Higher roles can use commands granted to their role and lower roles.

User commands

/meSend an action-style message.
/msg USER MESSAGESend a private message to a valid username from the main chat.
/seen USERShow when a valid user was last seen.
/awaySet your account status to away until you become active again.

Settings

Settings control your account experience and the features available to your role. Depending on permissions, they can include profile, sound, chat behavior, rooms, moderation, upload limits and administration.

Sound

Notification sound can be enabled or disabled independently of the optional music player.

Music player

The optional chat music player is separate. When disabled, its player script is not intended to run.

Troubleshooting

I do not see a new message

Refresh the conversation list and confirm the sender is not ignored.

I hear no notification sound

Check your VOXGAB sound setting and the browser audio permissions.

A panel looks stale after an update

Reload the page so the browser fetches current CSS and JavaScript.

I cannot access a feature

The feature may depend on your role, account status or an administrator setting.

If a problem persists, use Report / Help and include what you were doing when it occurred.
